Empowering Women and Transgender People in Tech

Diversity and inclusion are a big part of who we are. At a time where technology will define what it means to be human, it’s crucial that we ensure that our future is built by people from all walks of life, and that people from all walks of life have the opportunity to be a part of it.

Empowering Women and Transgender People in Tech

About the Northcoders Gender Diversity Fund

We’ve invested thousands of pounds into gender diversity initiatives for the tech industry over the years, and now we have created a special fund to contribute towards the cost of kick-starting a career through Northcoders for women and those belonging to gender minorities.

The Northcoders Gender Diversity Fund is designed to provide financial support for living expenses to individuals attending our 13-week coding bootcamp. We aim to make the program more accessible by offering 10 grants of £1,500 each, removing barriers and empowering a diverse range of people to pursue a career in tech.

How to Apply for the Gender Diversity Fund

To apply for the Gender Diversity Fund, simply sign up for our July bootcamp between May 2nd and June 20th. During the application process, you'll find a tick box at the bottom of the form to opt in for the Gender Diversity Fund. After June 20th, we will randomly select 10 lucky recipients to receive the bursary.

Don't miss this incredible opportunity! Apply for the Gender Diversity Fund and take the first step towards a rewarding career in technology. Together, let's build a more diverse and innovative future.

How the fund will help you

Please note that the Gender Diversity Fund is only for women and those with transgender experience wishing to join our Coding or Cloud Engineering Bootcamps.

£1,500 financial support

Even with the cost of the bootcamp currently funded, we understand that you still have living costs to think about, especially with the bootcamp being full-time. To make the training more accessible for people who would otherwise not be able to afford to give up 3 months of work, we are offering ten £1,500 bursaries to help you cover living costs, equipment, and any other financial obligations that would otherwise be an obstacle.

Funded access to an industry-leading bootcamp

Our 13 week bootcamps will teach you all the skills you need to become a junior developer. You don't need any experience but will have to pass our Entry Challenge to be accepted onto the course. For anyone who is eligible, there is currently no cost for studying at Northcoders.

About the Gender Diversity Fund

  • Who is it for?

These bursaries are for women, non-binary, and transgender people who would benefit from financial support while studying on the bootcamp. They are only available to people joining the 3rd July Coding or Cloud Engineering cohort.

  • When is the deadline to apply?

You can apply at any point as long as you pass your Entry Challenge by 20th June at the latest. The majority of our applicants spend around 2-4 weeks preparing for the Entry Challenge once they’ve applied, so please keep this in mind and plan accordingly.

If the cohort reaches capacity before 20th June, this deadline might change.

  • How is it paid?

10 people will receive £1,500 each. The total bursary will be paid in 3 instalments of £500. The first instalment will be paid 4 weeks into the course and the remaining instalments will be paid in two further 3 week increments.

  • How is it decided?

We will randomly select the recipients of the bursaries from a list of all applicants.

  • I’ve already applied to the course, can I still apply for this?

If you’ve already submitted a bootcamp application and want to be considered for a bursary on the 3rd July cohort, please email [email protected] and we’ll add you to the list to be considered.

  • I’ve already passed my EC, can I still apply for this?

If you’ve already passed your Entry Challenge and want to be considered for a bursary on the 3rd July cohort, please email [email protected] and we’ll add you to the list to be considered.

  • I’m already on the course, can I still apply for this?

These bursaries are only available to students on the 3rd July cohort so if you’re already on the course, you’re not eligible.

  • Can I move my place to a later cohort if I’m successful?

These bursaries are only available to students on the 3rd July cohort so if you’d like to defer to any other date, you’re not eligible.
