Emotional manipulation tamagotchi style habit tracker

Byte Size Habits a coding learning tracker that focuses on keeping your pet, Nibbler, fully charged!! By completing your daily coding goal (based on time) you will fully charge Nibbler, and he will be overjoyed. By doing so you also gain coins and use these coins to buy Nibbler accessories.

We all came up with a couple of ideas that we would like to see come to life in an application. To filter this down to one idea we voting rounds to reduce our idea pool to half. After playing a battle of the ideas long enough we eventually had our one true idea... Byte Size Habits.

We used: Supabase, React, Next.js, TailwindUI, DaisyUI, and Chart.js.

We used these as they synergise well with each other and helped us enhance all aspects of our app.

Challenges Faced

Chart.js didn't provide the smoothest theme integration and wasn't as well documented as other software libraries.

Next.js provided a steep learning curve initially, however once we had created some mock apps we were confident we could see how ours would shape up.

If we had more time we would have incorporated purchasable themes from the shop (rather than owned by default), improved pet interaction with accessories appearing on Nibbler and more goal and pet options.
