Team Husky present Gone for a Bork

Our app is a gamified version of a dog breed identifier.

Our app is for everyone, particularly those who love dogs.

It's a dog breed collecting game where you take a picture of a dog and image recognition software (developed with machine learning) tells you which dog breed it thinks is in the photo as well as some fun facts and statistics about the breed. The image can then be stored in your gallery, where it is uploaded to the cloud and the breed of the dog is added to your "dogs caught" list.

You can view other users to see the number of dogs they've caught and add them as a friend to challenge each other to fill the gallery of dog breeds first!

Tech Stack

We used Firebase, React Native, Expo, TensorFlow, CSS.

We used React Native as we wanted our app to be used via mobile, it makes more sense as people would be out of the house to get pictures of dogs. Expo made most sense as we needed the app to have a camera.

We went with Firebase as we wanted to use a new technology and had used it originally for the authentication.

TensorFlow is one of the most popular platforms for machine learning, we used this as it offers better visualisation, which allows developers to debug better and track the training process.
