> Be able to show us that you’re committed to learning to code and finding work as a software developer in the North of England
For more details, contact us.
It’s easy. Just apply using the form below. You'll need to tell us a bit about why you want to learn to code with Northcoders and why you want to work in software development.
Read our Study Now, Pay Later FAQs below for more information.
Women and those belonging to gender minorities are massively underrepresented in tech. And we think it’s time something changed.
By making dozens of deferred tuition places available with the Study Now, Pay Later scheme, we want to close the gender gap in the North and create a more inclusive environment for the next generation of tech workers.
After you graduate and start earning a regular wage, you will pay 10% of your gross income each month until the balance is paid in full. This is also known as a deferred payment plan.
For more information about how deferred payment plans work, contact us.
No. While repayments may be linked to inflation, you won’t pay any interest.

You’ll need to pay a 5% deposit to show you’re committed to your place on the course.
Nope. Absolutely not. You won't need to know a line of code (or even what a line of code is) to apply for Northcoders. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a degree, A-levels or GCSEs, you’re still eligible to apply.
Are you a woman or someone who belongs to a gender minority? Do you want to learn to code and work in the tech industry? If you answered yes, and you can show that you have a strong commitment to learning to code, you’re exactly who we’re looking for!
You can tell us which cohort you’d like to join in your online application, but we might have to bring forward or defer your start date depending on class sizes.
There is no deadline to apply at present, but if we plan to close applications we will publish a deadline here. Places will be highly competitive, so we recommend you make applying and preparing for your Entry Challenge a priority.
Want to ace the Entry Challenge first time around? Here’s everything you need to know about the Entry Challenge.
Submit your application by completing the form below. We'll then email you some basic coding materials to help you prepare for the next step – the Northcoders Entry Challenge.
We'll send you some coding exercises to help you get started - and if coding is really for you, you should find these fun!
To progress to the next stage, you'll need to pass the Northcoders Entry Challenge. The Entry Challenge will test your knowledge of the coding materials we emailed you. We suggest setting aside 20 hours to complete the preparation materials.
Next, we need to decide who to offer the Study Now, Pay Later scheme to. If you're offered a place and decide to accept, we'll support you every step of the way through our Precourse to give you a great grounding for your first day.
