How did you find your time on the bootcamp?

I learned so much in such a short space of time that I thought my head might physically explode, but it’s made me hungry to learn even more and become the best possible dev that I can be. Becoming part of this vibrant, caring community was something I hadn’t expected before the course, but now I couldn’t be without it. To be a Northcoder is to be enlightened, inspired and supported.

What was the support like on the course?

What I liked best about the on-site support from Northcoders tutors is that they all ascribe to the idea that help that has not been asked for is help not given. I was given exactly the right amount of support I needed, because I was only ever helped when I asked for it. Having tutors that were constantly available, happy to talk through a problem in detail but each with a unique perspective really helped to broaden my thinking and problem-solving skills. I couldn’t have asked for a better support system.

How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?

I attended a couple of support sessions after the course in order to polish my portfolio and get it deployed. Having my own personal grad channel on Slack was really useful, being able to communicate with Amul and Beckie about next steps, interview prep and so on.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying?

The future of every industry is in code. Everything is becoming increasingly digitally powered, so you could not make a smarter career move than to become involved in coding. There’s nothing scary about it, you don’t need to be amazing at maths or computer science already, and you don’t need to have a particularly patient or academic personality. If you have ever learned anything in your life, you can learn to code, and you can learn to code well!
