Chinyere Stapleton – Placement Consultant with a focus on placing our latest data cohort at the moment.

How long have you worked for Northcoders?

I have worked for Northcoders for 6 months 

What does your job role entail?

My role entails speaking with businesses to open up opportunities for our Northcoders once they graduate. I also spend time getting to know the Northcoders and understanding more about them so I can match them with opportunities. 

What did you do before your role at Northcoders?

I worked in technology recruitment for almost 10 years.

Why do you enjoy working in tech?

Tech is always changing, it’s fast paced and there is always something new to learn about! 

How can you and the wider team at northcoders help businesses find the right tech talent?

We can put businesses in touch with incredible entry level tech talent from our software engineering, data engineering or Java engineering cohorts – we get feedback fairly regularly that our grads perform really well alongside gradates who have gone down the university route. 

What do you think the biggest challenge for hiring in tech is at the moment?

A lot of companies feel risk averse when it comes to hiring, particularly with hiring juniors. A lot of companies are prioritising hiring more experienced engineers who can add value on day one as opposed to hiring more junior engineers who they can help to train and nurture. 

A fun fact about you

As a child / teen I learned almost every style of dance you can imagine – at one point or another I learned ballet, modern, tap, jazz, hip-hop / street dance, contemporary, Latin and ballroom!
