Bootcamp Life
Why 13 Weeks? The Reasoning Behind the Length of Northcoders Bootcamps
Why 13 Weeks?
Every Northcoders bootcamp teaches you coding in 13 consecutive weeks full-time. To some, 13 weeks may feel like a long time away from work. To others, it will feel like a short time to go from being new to coding to finding a job in the tech industry.Â
So, why do a 13-week bootcamp?
Compared to a longer course such as a university degree, a 13-week bootcamp allows you to quickly and efficiently take the next step towards your career. Not everyone can or wants to spend years learning a new skill. These intensive three months let you get to the next step of your new tech career without losing any time.
However, a shorter course still needs to teach all the skills necessary for a career change, which means we can’t compromise on quality.
What hiring partners look for
Based on what our hiring partners look for in juniors, we’ve developed a structured learning path to cover everything our students will need. Our courses can be hard work, but our tutors are always on hand to help students grasp new concepts, develop a strong coding mindset, and put new skills into practice. We do a mix of lectures and seminars as well as paired work and coding projects, so that our graduates can not only code with ease, but also confidently discuss practical work with employers.Â
Career support
Our graduates don’t stop being part of the Northcoders community once the 13 weeks are over though! Our career coaches support them with the next steps too, from putting together a CV or practicing an interview, to applying for a role on our exclusive jobs board.
