What's the Fruition IT Bursary?

The Fruition IT Bursary is a £1500 stipend which we’ll pay directly to two successful applicants to support their living costs while they learn to code at Northcoders.

This bursary is kindly funded by Fruition IT, specialists and market-leaders in tech recruitment. They share our commitment to helping more people access fulfilling careers in tech.

As well as this financial support, the two successful applicants will also receive lifelong support from Fruition IT's experts to ensure they are able to succeed at every stage of their tech careers.

About the Fruition IT Bursary

  • Who are Fruition IT, and how will they support me?

Fruition IT are specialists and market-leaders in tech recruitment. They provide best-in-class career support for professionals across the tech spectrum. They share our commitment to helping more people access fulfilling careers in tech.

The two successful applicants won't just receive financial support. If you receive a Fruition IT Bursary, you'll also benefit from lifelong support from their careers experts, including CV, interview and job help. And that's just the start. They're a people-first organisation who take a personal and bespoke approach to making sure you succeed at every stage of your career, so you couldn't be in safer hands as you develop a fulfilling career in tech.

  • Who is this for, and am I eligible?

We’ll award the Fruition IT Bursary to two people who want to kick-start a fulfilling career in tech, but would struggle to join our bootcamps without it. For example, we would welcome applications from people who would use the bursary to contribute towards childcare costs, or to buy a laptop, or who have become unemployed at the end of the furlough scheme – but that’s not exhaustive. If you wouldn’t be able to come to Northcoders without this bursary for any reason, we would love to hear from you.

Fruition IT would like to meet applicants who are excited to "pay it forward" by sharing their story with others and inspiring more people to change their lives through a career in tech.

  • When will the bootcamp start?

This award is for the cohort beginning on 4th January 2022. It can't be transferred to another cohort.

  • What is the application process?

First, you need to apply for your Northcoders coding bootcamp separately. Then, you can apply for the Fruition IT Bursary using the form on this page. After that, you'll follow the same application process as anyone else.

You'll be supported to get started with coding with our Preparation Materials, with support from our mentors. This will prepare you to try your hand at our Entry Challenge.

Bear in mind that we are not looking for the most polished coder! We’re far more interested in the progress you have been able to make with the time you have had, and we'll take into account your commitments, like work and caring responsibilities.

  • How will you decide who to award them to?

A decision will be made on Monday 22nd November. Fruition IT and Northcoders will award the two bursaries based on aptitude for coding, and on genuine need.

Northcoders will assess your aptitude for coding through our Entry Challenge, and through your progression through our Preparation Materials. Based on the criteria, we will shortlist applicants for Fruition IT to make the final decision.

Fruition IT will make a decision based on genuine need. By this, we mean that they want to award these bursaries to two people who might not be able to learn to code with us without it.

  • When do I need to apply by?

Applications will be open until Monday 1st November. We'll decide who to award the bursaries to on Monday 22nd November. The coding bootcamp starts on 4th January 2022.

  • What if I’m unsuccessful?

If you’re eligible for the Northcoders Excellence Scholarship, we encourage you to consider applying for it. That said, we understand that some people are unable to complete the course without support with their living costs as well. We partner with CourseBud, who may be able to help you find a suitable loan to cover your living costs.

  • I’ve already applied to Northcoders! Can I still apply for the bursary?

If you've applied for Northcoders but are having difficulty taking up your place due to living costs, then absolutely, yes, you can apply for the bursary.

You can do this using the form below. You’ll need to explain why you’re applying, and how you’ve become eligible.

  • Can I apply for the Northcoders Excellence Scholarship too?

  • Which locations can I use the bursary for?

You can use the bursary for courses at any of our locations, or for our remote coding bootcamp.
