Collaborative Event Planning
We wanted to create a lightweight, easy-to-use app for organising small, informal gatherings such as BBQs, parties etc. Users would be able to create a private event page that only invited guests could collaborate on by having a shared task list and photo gallery. Our initial idea was for a shared task list but we felt we could expand the features to include photos which would serve as memories for each event.

We used: React Native/Expo, Typescript, and Firebase
We wanted to make a cross-platform mobile app which led us to use React Native. Expo handled a lot of the project creation and allowed us to test quickly with its Expo Go app. We used Firebase's Authentication, Firestore database, and Storage solutions to handle our entire backend. Firebase also allowed us to have real-time data reads, writes, and updates across multiple users and devices. These tools allowed us to quickly iterate on and create our app in the short time we had.
Challenges Faced
The biggest challenge we faced was learning an entire new tech stack for new platforms. We also ran into a number of merge conflicts which took time to resolve as we had not come across this challenge during our time on the course. These were massive learning opportunities for us that will no doubt be invaluable to us in our future careers.
