Trek-It! is a project that provides information about popular destinations around the world. It includes details about attractions, landmarks, and restaurants in each destination.
The user can add suggested activities to a custom itinerary for seamless holiday planning.
There are always lots of great things to explore in new cities, but not always the time to do them. This app was created with the intention for travellers to organise themselves, discover hidden gems, and get the most out of their trips.

We used: React Native, Expo, Firebase, Firestore
We wanted to challenge ourselves with a completely new tech stack! React Native and Expo were perfect as our app is a mobile application. Utilising Firebase and Firestore was also convenient as it handled user authentication and database storage remotely, all in one place.
Challenges Faced
At times we struggled to navigate our chosen tech stack as everything we used was brand new to us all, but we were determined to challenge ourselves. One of the barriers we faced was APIs that had a very limited number of calls available before charging for their use. We faced issues with a chosen API fairly late on, and with the only other option a charged service, we decided to simulate the data on our app based on example responses from the APIs.
