How did you find your time on the bootcamp?

Easily the best decision I ever made in my career. Northcoders gave me the opportunity to transfer from a job I hated with not many prospects, to a thriving one I love in a short space of time. Would recommend 100%.

What were you doing before the bootcamp and what made you apply?

I was working in sales, a career I fell into and never wanted to be in. I knew I didn't want to be in it for ever, but didn't know what I wanted to do or how to get out until I found Northcoders. I went from clockwatching 9-5 at work, to going early and staying late at college because I loved it so much.

What was the support like on the course?

As everyone going to Northcoders is in the same boat, you have an incredible support network. Everyone is there to learn so you can ask any fellow student for advice, you do actually spend most of the time pair programming anyway which gives a huge boost. All lectures are extremely colloborative and then all sprint/exercises are done with the knowledge that, if needed, a tutor is just one message away. On top of this, you have a personal tutor to support your way through the course. This gives you an extra level of technical support, as well as mental/emotional support as the course is intense.

The team is relentlessly positive and striving to help and encourage you how they can. They strive to get feedback from every single interview, whether positive or elements to work on. I always felt more confident going into an interview arranged through Northcoders than I did one myself.

How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?

Every graduating group has a chat group with the team, as well as a personal one. Everyone from your cohort is rooting for you so you have that positivity on the group chat, then you have the personal chat for more intimate conversations. The team is relentlessly positive and striving to help and encourage you how they can. They strive to get feedback from every single interview, whether positive or elements to work on. I always felt more confident going into an interview arranged through Northcoders than I did one myself.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying?

Do it!!! Coding is the best industry to be in already (outside of football) and is only going to get better. I personally couldn't have got to the level I am at now without the support from Northcoders and couldn't have got the job I have and love now without their network.
