Andrew

Junior Software Developer at Freeway Insurance UK

How did you find your time on the bootcamp?

My time at Northcoders was amazing. No two hours are ever the same and I felt like I was constantly learning. I am not sure if I have ever learnt so much, so quickly and in such a small amount of time, as I did at Northcoders. Ever.

I had 3 interviews lined up for me within days of graduating. I am not sure if I have ever learnt so much, so quickly and in such a small amount of time

What were you doing before the bootcamp and what made you apply?

I worked in training and development for 15 years before joining Northcoders. I had worked with people in software development and my curiosity into what it was and what they did, became an obsession!

What was the support like on the course?

I love that, as a student, you gain knowledge and expertise from a wide range of highly-skilled tutors, maximising your learning opportunities, yet you also have the consistency of a brilliant, dedicated mentor. This blend worked perfectly for me.

How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?

At Northcoders, all students have a dedicated team supporting them in introducing them to opportunities for employment, from start-ups to large multinational corporations and everything in between. You get to meet them during presentations and really find out about them. I had 3 interviews lined up for me within days of graduating.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying?

I went from having no coding experience whatsoever at the start of this journey to being offered a job as a junior developer. My time at Northcoders was awesome. If you are thinking about it, then come and meet them. Have a tour, meet the team, do an evening of programming and pizza with them, just go and see what's happening. It could be the best decision you make.

Anything else you'd like to add?

Being a Northcoder is very addictive. You will think about things in code. You will have dreams about code... and maybe even the odd nightmare about a curly bracket too :)
