How did you find your time on the bootcamp?
Northcoders was both challenging and fun. During my time there I learnt so much and saw how much more I had left to learn. There was never a dull moment and I was engaged from the start of week one to the end of week twelve.
If you're looking for an exciting, challenging and creative career, Northcoders might just be the best way to make that a reality
What were you doing before the bootcamp and what made you apply?
I completed a degree in mathematics but never discovered what I wanted to do as a career. I had low level jobs in the leisure and retail industries that didn't push or excite me. I knew my potential was much greater. I realized the coding I did for my hobbies could potentially be a career and then the opportunity to attend Northcoders presented itself.
What was the support like on the course?
The team were excellent. They were tirelessly patient and empathetic when we struggled to understand certain concepts. They provided just the right amount of support to help us solve our own problems rather than handing us the solution. The non-teaching staff were also excellent at looking after us and arranging the social events that allowed us to unwind.
How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?
We were introduced to many different potential employers during the course which allowed us to get a feel for the kind of industry and role we wanted to be a part of when we graduated. Our CVs were polished up and we were given mock technical tests. After the course interviews were arranged for us and we were given information on the companies so we could learn about them beforehand.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying?
Northcoders can make anyone a software programmer. If you're looking for an exciting, challenging and creative career or hobby to pursue then coding might just be for you and Northcoders might just be the best way to make that a reality.
