How did you find your time on the bootcamp?
When I first applied to Northcoders I didn't know what to expect. Northcoders made me forget about my worries from the first week and I quickly came to realise and appreciate how patient, accepting and supportive every member of staff is from the tutors to the career coaches. I attended the boot camp after completing a masters course in computer science at university, so in a sense I'm able to compare between the two. For me the knowledge and experiences I gained at Northcoders in such a short amount of time because of the environment, the level of teaching, and the patience of the tutors and mentors outweighed any learning experience I gained at University. In short, thank you.
What were you doing before the Bootcamp and what made you apply?
Before Northcoders, I was studying for a masters in computer science and felt I needed a more industry-led experience to prepare mentally for work.
What was the support like on the course?
The support from the mentors was amazing. I witnessed firsthand how patient and skilled all the mentors are. I was blessed with an amazing mentor who didn't mind taking time from her busy day to go over a few concepts which I was struggling with at the time.
How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?
The support was amazing. I really felt that the career coaches were doing everything in their power to make sure I found meaningful employment. In the end, I managed to gain a role by attending one of the assessment centres organised at the Northcoders office.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying?
Take that step. You won't regret it. That's what Northcoders is there for.
Anything else you would like to add?
A special thank you, especially to my main tutors Dave R, David and Jim. And to my mentor Maddie. And also to Emily who was there for me throughout my time. Also to anyone else who I missed, thank you!
