How did you find your time on the bootcamp?

I faced many challenges during the Bootcamp, which made me a good developer. From fundamentals to project week, I enjoyed the time during the pair programming as well as the time programming by myself. The seminar leader and the tutors were always there to help me find the best solution to my code. I can add I knew a lot of people, some of them starting their careers and others in a career transition (like me!). It was wonderful to exchange experiences with people from different backgrounds.

What were you doing before the Bootcamp and what made you apply?

I worked in online retail for a few years, however, I always liked coding in my free time. When I was able to make some adjustments in my personal and professional life, I signed myself up for the next Northcoders cohort. I knew I needed to take the next step in my career, and I looked to the Northcoders Bootcamp as it. In such a manner, being married and father-of-two, the chance to attend the Bootcamp mostly from home leaned me to choose Northcoders. As a hybrid student, I can say that in-person and remote students are treated equally!

What was the support like on the course?

Amazing! All the mentors were always there to give the right direction should you need it. Each week we had a small meeting with the seminar students to talk about something we were struggling with or anything we needed to improve. They collected our thoughts and injected them into the next seminars to clarify our minds.

How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?

Before starting the final project week, we had an entire day with the Northcoders Career Consultant Team to help us to write the CV in the same way professional software developers do as well as with seminars explaining things about confidence, how to behave in an interview, setting up a LinkedIn account and tech tests. After this day, they created a special channel in Slack to keep in contact with them to ask anything about careers.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying?

Do not think too much! If you want to become a Full Stack Software Developer, act and apply for it. Of course, you need to prepare yourself for this intense 13-week journey (plus the pre-course).

Anything else you would like to add?
I would like to thank all the mentors who were with me on my journey. Thanks for your patience and directions 😊
