Account Manager to Software Engineer
Cheryl
Software Engineer at On The Beach
How did you find your time on the bootcamp?
Northcoders was a great experience. Intense but great. So much was learnt over the 12 weeks I was there and I just can't believe how far I came from no experience of coding to being a full stack developer. The cohort I started with are some of the loveliest people I've ever met and they've all been so supportive throughout the course and afterwards. Definitely made friends for life.

What were you doing before the bootcamp and what made you apply?
I was working as a Client Account Manager for a ticket company for about 4 years before Northcoders. I loved working with the clients but I just felt I needed a new challenge. I love learning and problem solving and with programming, I could just see endless opportunities. This made me excited to try coding and I'm so glad I did.
What was the support like on the course?
The tutors at Northcoders are all really knowledgable, friendly and supportive. The lectures are really good and then the sprint you do afterwards really helps to cement your understanding.
How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?
The support after the course was great. I definitely felt encouraged that I would be able to get a job and I had interviews set up within a week of graduating.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying?
Don't be afraid. Don't feel like you can't do it, because you definitely can. Don't worry if things go wrong, that's how you fix stuff!
Anything else you'd like to add?
Thanks to everyone at Northcoders for being welcoming and supportive. It's a great community to be part of, even now after the course I'm still keeping in touch with people.
