Football Coach to Digital Developer
Paddy
Digital Developer at Think Money Group
How did you find your time on the bootcamp?
Intense, challenging but hugely rewarding. I like how the course introduces full stack web development from the ground up starting with the 'why' and 'how' before the 'what'. I was apprehensive about starting due to being so new to the tech scene. I began my journey with the Introduction to Coding evening classes which convinced me to tackle the full-time course. Everyone on campus is great, the students and staff are all in it together, every day was a laugh. I'd do it all again!

What were you doing before the bootcamp and what made you apply?
Before the course I was a football coach working in the United States. I love football but opportunities at the highest levels of the game are limited and working hours are unsocialable due to the amout of evening and weekend work.
What was the support like on the course?
On-site support cannot be faulted. You know there is help there if needed but you are encouraged to first tackle the issue yourself. If you do need that extra support you are not spoon feed but guided in the right direction.
How much support did you receive from Northcoders with your job search after the course?
The after course support was something that attracted me to Northcoders. Being so new to coding I knew I would struggle with the job search. The support sessions from CV writing to interview prep and one-on-ones were really beneficial. On securing me an interview the breakdown of what to expect right down to what to wear was appreciated. Constant updates from Steph and Josh were great to keep me up to speed on application progress.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about applying?
If you love a challenge and having the opportunity to constantly learn you have to get involved. Just do it!
